About This Quote

I wish I was either in your arms full of faith, or that a Thunder bolt would strike me. This quote from Shakespeare is from a play called “As You Like It.” In this quote, the character Rosalind says that she wishes she were either in her lover’s arms with a lot of faith, or stuck in a thunderstorm where a thunderbolt would strike her. The idea that there are two different forms of pain and two different ways to cope with them is an interesting one. The scene in which Rosalind says this is one of the most romantic scenes in the play.

In it, Orlando and Rosalind are part of a group of young people who have been reunited after being separated by being sent to live in different parts of the country. At the beginning of the scene, Rosalind is separated from Orlando by having to stay behind while Orlando goes to join another group. As she says this quote, however, it’s clear that she´s still thinking about being with him and being away from him.
